MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCES TO THE ISLAND NATION OF HAITI AND VICTIMS OF THE DEVASTATING  EARTHQUAKE OF JANUARY 2010

To His Excellency President Rene Garcia Preval

President of Haiti

With deep sorrow, His Imperial Highness Prince Regent Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam and the Imperial Family of Vietnam send greetings to all citizens of the Island nation of Haiti. The tragic events of the last several days, and the aftermath trouble us all deeply.

Such a natural disaster is considered an "Act of God" and there are no reasons or answers for such a tragic occurance.

We sadly note that this earthquake has taken the lives of more than 120,000 citizens of your nation and the destruction of 1 in 10 homes in the capital Port-au-Prince and other widespread devastation reported throughout your country.

With deep sadness, and with the thoughts, good wishes and prayers of all Vietnamese we extend our condolences to all who have lost loved ones and our sympathy to those suffering at this moment and time.

Yours sincerely,

H.I.H. Prince Regent Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam
Duke of Kien Hoa
